The BES solution is designed for companies who have a Microsoft, Lotus Domino or Novell Groupwise servers and gives a wide range of additional benefits over the Internet (BIS) version including Triple DES security (considered almost unbreakable), over-the-air configuration (BES 4.0 which facilitates deployment) and over the air synchronisation with your PC calendar. Additional new benefits of the BES 4.0 are that it enables users to view graphics such as JPEG and PDF files.
An external server is needed to house the BES software (specifications to the right) and Vodafone offers a structured range of installation solutions whereas O2 recommends that an IT administrator installs the software (supporting manuals and technical support are available).
