| Blackberry Internet Solution (BIS) |
The Blackberry internet version is aimed at small to medium-sized companies and consumers who do not need the more
advanced functionality of the Blackberry Enterprise Server or BES (for more information on BES see facing page). The primary
benefit of the Blackberry Internet is push email. Push email ensures that you will always be connected to your email while your
Blackberry device is switched on. There is no need to "pull-down" your email from a server as with other email solutions.
Effectively this means that your customers will have access to as many text based emails as they want on a monthly basis and
can access their email wherever there is a GPRS connection. The email account is set up with a simple 5-click set up from which
point as many as ten other email accounts can be added. Blackberry Internet is compatible with all IMAP4 and PoP3 email
accounts (which effectively covers almost all hosted email accounts including Yahoo, Hotmail, BTOpenworld and Wanadoo). |

| Blackberry Enterprise Solution (BES) |
The BES solution is designed for companies who have a Microsoft, Lotus Domino or Novell
Groupwise servers and gives a wide range of additional benefits over the Internet (BIS) version
including Triple DES security (considered almost unbreakable), over-the-air configuration (BES 4.0
which facilitates deployment) and over the air synchronisation with your PC calendar. Additional
new benefits of the BES 4.0 are that it enables users to view graphics such as JPEG and PDF files.
An external server is needed to house the BES software (specifications to the right) and
Vodafone offers a structured range of installation solutions whereas O2 recommends that an IT
administrator installs the software (supporting manuals and technical support are available).
A new online process has been developed to simplify Blackberry applications on O2. Talk to
